It's not mine I swear

As I was reading in the bedroom I could hear Rich flipping between Chopped and Cops on the tv in the living room. A cop was asking a guy he pulled over for rolling through a stop sign why his car smells like pot and why he was acting really nervous. He told the guy he should tell him now if there was anything he was hiding because a dope dog was on the way and it would find anything the guy was trying to hide. The guy said he had no idea why his car smelled of pot and wasn't hiding anything. Of course the dog gets there and finds a large bag of pot. They guy says it wasn't his, a friend must have left it in his car.

This reminds me of the time my car smelled like pot and the reason sounds like the WORST EXCUSE EVER, except it is 100% true. It should surprise no one that on occasion I pick up litter and throw it away. One day walking out of the grocery store I see an empty plastic sandwich bag and pick it up and put it in the center cup holder of my car. As I pull out of the parking lot I smell pot, as I drive down the street a bit I realize it's coming from inside my car, from the bag I picked up. Rich was NOT amused by this, I am no longer aloud to pick up trash and hold on to it.

"No officer I am not high. See what happened was I picked up this empty bag in a parking lot to throw away when I get home and I guess at some point it was used for holding pot."

Yup sounds legit. I am really glad I live less than a 5 minute drive from the store.

It's alive

I couldn't let a whole year past without a blog post....actually I could have, I just found something I felt was too wordy for social media.

In honor of throwback Thursday I managed to give myself flashbacks, maybe I should save this for flashback Friday.

I tripped over an extension cord in my apartment today, an extension cord that goes from the outlet behind the tv across the floor to under the coffee table. I use it to plug in my chargers while I watch tv so I can keep my devices within reach. It has been here for months upon months, if not years. It gets tripped on occasionally, never anything major, no one goes down. I didn't even go down this time, I stayed upright so I am calling this a win, but I did draw blood, a minor amount of blood but it's there.

I know toe/foot pictures aren't appreciated by many but I am in serious awe of my ability to injure myself in this way and it has a tie in to a GREAT childhood story.

This takes me back to when I was 10 at the oldest, I know I was still in elementary school. My brother and I used to watch Swiss Family Robinson A LOT. Whatever you think a lot means, go ahead and add to that, not as much as we used to watch Bedknobs and Broomsticks though, we used to rent that tape from Blockbuster CONSTANTLY! That movie has no connection to this story. What do kids who watch Swiss Family Robinson do in their back yard? They set up traps of course. We never set up a good pit trap because the yard had rock hard dirt, it might have actually been rock and not dirt. There were small "pit" traps but nothing beyond half a foot at the deepest I'd guess. What could we do well? TRIP WIRES!! We tied a rope, a thick, strong, well used rope, not string, legitimate rope, near the base of an orange tree on one end and across the sidewalk to the fence on the other end. I'd guess it was a few inches off the ground, we wanted to make sure intruders didn't see it and tripped over it. That was the plan anyway.

What really happened you ask. Well we had a big strong lovable yet easily excitable dalmatian at the time. My brother is 3 and a half years younger than me and literally my little brother at this time, probably close to the last time he was my "little" brother. Brother wanted out of the backyard but overly excitable dog that outweighed him was making this difficult so big sister to the rescue. I go out the side gate run all the way around the front of the house down the other side of the yard to the back with the plan to get the dogs attention so brother could slip out of the backyard without the dog pestering him and making it difficult.

I got the dogs attention but not the way I planned. The dog came running over to me when I started wailing, at least I assume I started wailing, I don't actually remember this happening but I do know trip wires work on people running full out that have no idea, or recollection, that they are there. I do remember having to wear the same sandals for quite a while because I had a fairly thick, and painful, rope burn across the top of each foot and couldn't put any other shoes on. I told you we used legitimate rope not string and I hit this thing at full speed, full speed of a ten year old. I don't remember having any other injuries but I imagine I had scuffed up knees, hands, and perhaps elbows because I was running and subsequently fell on concrete.

So here I sit 24 years later reminded of that incident. Apparently I still can't remember things I string across the ground and if tripping over that rope when I was ten years old and having a very memorable injury from it didn't make me learn I guess I never will.

Accent Video

Dorkyness alert.

Saw Ashley at Our Little Apartment do this (and seen the list elsewhere as well) and then my (twitter) friend Chel has been curious about how I say things and I am bored on a Friday night while my (drunk) husband snores it up in the bedroom, so here you go, a video of me saying random things and being a gigantical dork throughout.

Note: My paternal grandfather was grandpa not granddad. Don't you just love my leopard print PJ's!! :) The largest amount of pink I ever wear (the collar and cuffs, lol).

Where it all went awry

I'm not what society calls "normal", I don't even know what that means or why one would want to be "normal". While at work the other day my mind started to wander as I got to the "routine" part of my day. I thought, "I think I know when things went awry."

I believe it could have been my childhood over identification with Pippi Longstocking. It must have been my 11th birthday if I am doing my math correctly, which I am probably not because me and math are like oil and water. That summer The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking came out and for my birthday I went to the movies with friends and then had a party.

I share her love of animals and like her I don't necessarily conform to preconceived notions. I don't have super strength like of course but also like her I would not, and still do not, hesitate to jump into a body of water fully clothed even in my best clothes, although now I wouldn't jump in with any of my fave shoes on, you don't mess with a girl and her shoes. ;)

As I've gone into here before I am not obsessed with cleanliness and I always thought of Pippi being the same way, we aren't walking around looking like Pigpen from Peanuts but that's because we're girls and it's cute when girls have a bit of mud smeared on their clothes and/or face. I would have given anything to live in a house with a monkey and a horse. Being older and having actually worked with a few different monkeys I've changed my mind on that one, they are just too damn smart and test you, although I do know a monkey (Gepetto) that loves his human mommy (Jess) and would love to have a relationship like that with one.

To this day I still love horses though. My uncle had a horse that wasn't ridden very often but I didn't hesitate to get on it bareback even on a few occasions. On a family trip to Yosemite me and my dad went on a horse back tour. When we got within sight of the stables my horse took off and I just went for a long bumpy ride all the way back to the stables. A guide was quick to follow me to try and get the horse to stop and make sure I didn't panic, I did quite the opposite. He apologized to my dad for the incident and was amazed I took it so well, I didn't just take it well I quite enjoyed it. It was the highlight of the tour for me, only thing I remember about it actually.

After contemplating all this I texted my mom and said I know where you went wrong (poor choice of words) and told her it was because of her allowing me (again poor choice of words) to over identify with Pippi Longstocking. She got back to me and said, "oh nice blame it on me." I really should have worded my text better. I got back to her and said well I guess I could have identified with Stawberry Shortcake, gotten obese and had friends all named after desserts. We had a laugh.

What other characters was a little red headed girl suppose to identify with? I never liked Annie much , think it was the way she was treated and while the story had a happy ending I didn't identify with her at all. I'm glad I chose Pippi. Even to this day I wouldn't mind being Pippi.

Play in mud to stop allergies?

From Care2: Play in the mud to stop allergies?

This is just too perfect for me and my blog. Guess we know why I don't have allergies, I use to play in the mud and dirt and sad and manure piles looking for worms and other creepy crawlies for HOURS on end as a kid. I wonder why it took until my mid twenties for me to get the nick name mudnessa, before that it was just Nessa, guess it took an outsider to dub me with the really perfect nickname. It was just the way Nessa was to my family, hehe.

My brain knows things I do not

I grew up a baseball fan, went to games quite regularly, the family even had season tickets for a few years in the 90's. I understand and appreciate the game and can hold my own while viewing and enjoying a game. I don't pay all the much attention to baseball anymore and most of the guys I grew up loving are no longer in the game or *shudders* are coaches, boy does that make me feel old. I stopped paying as much attention to baseball a few years back, the whole steroids and bullshit just got too much for me and I just don't see the game the same anymore, but that's not the point of this post. I should also say that I am in no way a fan of basketball of football, both of them I have never really watched and am the typical girl about them, I know practically nothing about the sports and find them stupid and dumb, again just the typical girl.

There are things you can ask me about and I would go um um um I don't know but when watching a baseball game I understand what is going on. Basically there is information I know but can't willingly recall. One such fact is who wears the light and who wears the dark uniforms. I can't for the life of me tell you till earlier this year.

While watching the hockey playoffs I was getting so confused, I knew where the games were being held and I would keep getting excited for a goal and then realize that it was the wrong team. Watching hockey today I found myself doing the same thing, it happens more in the regular season when I watch hockey just for the joy of the game and don't pay as much attention to it because I mainly only get Kings hockey in my area and I have never been a Kings fan. Although since the Ducks were in the playoffs this year I didn't get to watch much of them because once the Kings were eliminated I was apparently in Ducks market and got a lot of blacked out games, pissed me off so bad, I also am not a Ducks fan AT ALL (is it wrong that when I wrote out I said it in my head like a Canadian because we are talking about (also said in my head like a Canadian)hockey).

Back to the hockey playoffs earlier this year, my husband enlightened me to the fact that I was getting confused because in hockey the dark/light home/away colors are the opposite of what they are in baseball. So apparently I know which team wears which uniform, I just can't actually recall this information, and my brain just automatically thought the same way. So I then mention this to my dad when we were watching a hockey playoff game and he tells me why baseball has the dark/light home/away uniforms. The away teams wear the dark because the traveling teams didn't have the facilities to wash their jerseys on away games, this of course is way back in the day. So to make it easier on the away teams they would wear darker uniforms that showed less dirt. Hey I can now remember that fact because that makes sense. Why hockey is the opposite I don't know. Hockey isn't as dirty of a sport, unless you count blood but that has nothing to do for the most part with home or away.

So that is the story of my brain knowing things I didn't know it knew, wonder what else it is hiding from me.

You haven't seen what?

When I was growing up we didn't watch a lot of movies or even tv either. We didn't have cable tv until I was a senior in high school. MTV really mean nothing to me, I never really knew it showed actual music videos, by the time I had access to it I was more into metal which got next to no play on MTV so I never watched it. That may sound all well and good but I have disgusted a few people with the fact that I haven't seen a lot of movies from the late 80's and the 90's and before and beyond, but mostly from that time. My husband has dealt with this and I have watched a few of the movies but he was having a conversation with his cousin the other day and they started listing all these great movies and asking if I had seen them. Usually I would just hang my head and not answer. I am not oblivious to these movies and I know I would like them and a lot of them I have seen most parts but I have never actually watched them from start to finish. So here is a list of movies I have not seen that they can't believe:

Caddyshack
The Burbs
Three Amigos
The Jerk
Airplane
Space Balls
Spy's Like Us
Police Academy
Karate Kid
Godfather (all of them)
Coming to America

Mostly comedies which I love so it is a crime that I haven't seen them apparently. I completely agree with some of them, I know I would love Caddyshack and I have seen most of it but in bits here and there, same with The Burbs. I have also never seen most horror movies from the 80's and 90's, Nightmare on Elm street, Halloween, and even things like Alien and Terminator. I am quite a fragile girl and scare very easily. I deal with it a lot better now that I am older and I do want to watch some of those movies but just like the comedies I just haven't gotten to them. I love B horror movies, the discovery of the SciFi (now SyFy) channel when I was in college was one I was happy to find. I love those B monster movies new and old and ones with lots of camp even if they aren't trying to be campy. There really is no excuse for the lack of movies I have seen and I plan on remedying that, The Burbs should be waiting for me in my mailbox right now from Netflix.

Slacking and computer crash

So I have obviously been slacking on posting, which is something I always do but wanted to change. I have been dealing with some unusual headaches. I have never been plagued by headaches until a few months ago. Now I get them pretty regularly and it is a pain in the, well head actually. It starts as a sore neck for usually a few days and if I can remember to I can keep it at just an annoying sore neck for a few days with occasionally applying an ice pack to the back of my neck base of my skull area. Sometimes I feel it creep up into the back of my head and those headaches aren't debilitating just annoying. Last month though that did NOTHING and it quickly developed into a real headache, pounding front of head/whole head type of headache. Every day I would wake up with a sore neck and by the time early evening rolled around the head would start aching, days I worked, days I didn't work, days I kept busy, and days I spent curled up on the couch, nothing would change the progression. That lasted about a week and then poof all gone. They started again mid last week. This time with a sore back and then sore back and neck and yesterday came the headache. I feel the neck right now and I can feel it starting in my head.

This headache however could be totally caused by stress because my computer crashed on Friday. Vista just crashed for no reason at all and so I had to re-install it and all my drivers and basically start with a fresh new computer, not physically but I lost everything that was on my computer. It is just a personal computer and when my last laptop crashed we bought a VERY large external hard drive and I pretty regularly back up my files onto it so I didn't lose all that much. I have most of my bookmarks, which in reality I don't use that much, but they are a great reference for when I am looking for gifts since I have a million and one eco-friendly sites bookmarked and they have some REALLY cool stuff. I also have a TON of articles and other sites I never got around to reading.

I did lose some photos, nothing too important or anything that makes me that sad but I did lose pictures that I had been meaning to use in a blog post or two, I don't even remember what some of them were and that is why I take pictures, so I can have something to at least remind me of what I wanted to blog about. Gee you think I am a visual learner.

So here is to hoping I can be headache free and that I can get into a mood to post more on my blog, even if it is just non-sense, it feels good to write ones feelings and thoughts and ideas down in a semi-lucid way and just have it there for you to read. (By you I mean myself, I really could careless if someone reads this but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate those who might actually be reading this, it just isn't really the reason I do it. If other enjoy then great, if they don't that's fine too.)

Ipod cleaning

I wash and dried my Ipod the last time I did laundry, last weekend.  Did not realize until I was folding my laundry.  I felt a small hard rectangular object in a pocket in a pair of pants and I thought to myself, Oh crap I washed the remote to the Ipod dock, I took it out and realized no it's the actual Ipod.  I got really bummed and even more so when pressing the buttons did nothing.  I called my husband because a text just was not going to cut it for this.  This is a conversation that has to be done with actual voice so he can hear the sadness in me and I can hear the dis-belief that I actually did this in his, hehe.

I call and tell him and we both kinda laugh but we also realize that I no longer have an Ipod and I use one a lot and so we are either going to have to buy a new one or he will give me his.  During the conversation I take out the cord for it and hook it up to my computer, OMG it comes on.  It still has all my songs on it, it still has total display function.  Now I have to test if it actually puts sound out, so onto the dock it goes, OMG it works, LISTEN LISTEN its Lynyrd Skynyrd!!! CAN YOU HEAR IT!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

So yeah it works but only when plugged into an energy source, so no using it with head phones or in the car anymore but I can't remember the last time I used earphones and it takes me 5 minutes to get to work and I do have a CD player and even a cassette player in my car.  At home I have docks for my Ipod at work I use my little dock that can be run by batteries or by AC so just no more battery for me, I have to plug it in, which is what I usually do anyways.

I don't know why there is not any water damage, perhaps because I do large cold water loads in a front load washer or perhaps the washers don't actually work all that well, we have a laundry room at our complex so you never know.  I'm guesssing the power issues is from the dryer, the heat drained the battery.  I guess I'm lucky I use the medium setting on the dryer because the high setting probably would have totally killed the Ipod.  It is just too bad that Ipods have internal batteries that aren't worth changing like a cell phone.

I think this means something

This happened on Sunday . . .

I think this mean I need to buy more pants, especially since its getting to being colder.
But I HATE shopping for pants. They never fit and they are so damn expensive. Thanks to my small waste (haha that's a funny typo so I shall leave it) and big ass, hips, and thighs they never fit right. When they fit in the waist I can barely get them over my thighs and forget about fitting my ass into them. When they fit my ass and thighs the waist is WAY too big and often times they seem to fit pretty well but when I actually wear them and do some walking they are nice and snug in the thighs but the act of walking pulls them down since the waist is so roomy.

I also don't know where to go shopping for pants, I went to Macy's last time and spent a few hours and got two pairs of pants for $20 each, not too bad but I would rather go to a thrift store but I am not sure where to go for that and it will probably cost the same and will that be any better, won't they just get destroyed a lot faster because they have already been used?
How long can I go without getting new clothes. I need to cover my ass and legs some way and I'm not a skirt girl, I tend to have issues covering what should be covered and well they just aren't as warm as pants are.

I have plenty of work pants, they mostly consist of boys sweat pants (a lot cheaper than womens and even girls) and yoga pants from Victoria's Secret but six years ago I decided I need to separate work clothes from not work clothes otherwise all my clothes end up with stains and I always have poop and nastiness on all my clothes. Not that I couldn't wear my work clothes out if they were clean, I never do anything important really but its nice to have clothes that you know aren't covered in poop and other animal parts and fluids.

First Reaction

I saw the full length trailer for the new Star Trek movie today and my first reaction was, huh? and then as I thought about it more I started to HATE it. I just want to go off with all sorts of expletives about it. Basically it is probably going to be a good movie and I guess it could be a good Star Trek movie but right now it looks like any other action movie with tits and ass and explosions and suspense and all that, but just because you use names and likenesses doesn't mean you are Star Trek.

I love action movies and tits and ass as much as the next guy but this is Star Trek, not saying that you can't make Star Trek like that but you have to do it the right way, you can just go in and use the same characters that we know and love and pervert them into box office gold, that is not what you do with a thing like Star Trek and that is the feeling I am getting. I hope I am wrong but if I am not then I will have to start saving my money to buy myself Voyager, DS9, and TOS full series on DVD (I already own TNG) because it might just ruin the great name of Star Trek. Or even worse there will be more but they will be more perverted versions that just SUCK!!

Ok rant over all I can do now is wait and see . . .

I ripped my pants . . .

. . . and that's another reason why I love working by myself I don't have to worry when things like this happen . . . and they happen a lot.

I spilt the pasta . . .

The box swiveled in my hand and ended top side down, I quickly turned it over and there were five pieces left in the box so I let them join their friends . . .
